Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED Course

The Instructor-led Training content of the Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED course includes:

  • First aid basics
  • Medical emergencies
  • Injury emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Preventing illness and injury
  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and AED use

The AHA (2015) Guidelines for the Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED course involve:

  • Priorities, roles, and responsibilities of  first aid resources
  • Key steps in first aid
  • Assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, coking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
  • Epinephrine pen use
  • Controlling bleeding and bandaging
  • Recognition of common injuries and illnesses
  • How high-quality CPR improves survival and explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognition of when someone needs CPR
  • High-quality CPR for an adult, child, and infant
  • Performance as a team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • How to use and AED on an adult and a child
  • How to use an AED on an infant
  • When and hot to help a choking adult, child, and infant

Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard that is valid for two years.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If you must cancel a "face to face" class that you have registered for, your cancellation notification must be received by email to NapaCPR@napavalley.edu 48-hours prior to the class date and start time. If your notification is received 48-hours prior to the class date and start time, you will be able to reschedule your attendance at a future class at no additional charge. If you would like to request a refund, you will have up to 72-hours prior to the class date and start time to do so. Please note:  If you are a 'no show' at the scheduled class that you have registered for, this will result in your ineligibility to reschedule for a future class at no additional charge or to receive a refund for that particular class. You will be able to register for a future class and pay the full costs of that class. We reserve the right to cancel a class at any time for unforeseen circumstances.
